HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (May 3, 2023) – Vi at Highlands Ranch, an elevated senior living community in the greater Denver region, has broken ground on a new expansion of its care center, home to the community’s skilled nursing, memory care and assisted living units. Colorado’s only Type A Life Plan community, Vi at Highlands Ranch is renowned for its all-in-one senior living experience that enables residents to seamlessly transition from independent living into a full continuum of care, all on a single campus in sight of the Rocky Mountains. The expansion of the care center will provide 23 additional accommodations in the care center’s assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing units.

The Vi community marked the groundbreaking with a celebration on April 6, 2023, attended by residents alongside local partners from the Chamber of Commerce and Highlands Ranch Community Association. Members of the Vi at Highlands Ranch management team, including Joachim “Yo” Andersen, Executive Director; Ginger Kleerup, Resident Advisory Committee Chair; and Mary Grace Smigiel, Care Center Administrator, spoke at the ceremony, which was followed by light hors d'oeuvres, cupcakes, and champagne.

"We are delighted to launch this expansion, which will enable us to serve current and future residents with the highly skilled care that Vi at Highlands Ranch is known for," said Andersen. "Serving residents with specialized care and making them feel at home in their surroundings is our mission and our highest priority. Our expanded care center will enable us to do just that.”

Plans call for the care center expansion to be completed in April 2024.

Vi at Highlands Ranch’s care center provides access to assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory support services as needed, as part of Vi’s continuing care retirement community model. Each service provides attentive caregivers, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure residents’ specific needs are met.

• Vi’s assisted living program provides assistance with everyday activities while promoting a sense of independence. The setting offers many of the services and amenities offered in independent living, with an added focus on comfort and discreet care provided by dedicated caregivers overseen by a licensed nurse.
• The memory support program offers compassionate care for a spectrum of cognitive conditions, including Alzheimer’s Disease. Vi customizes treatment, including sensory cues to stimulate memory and create meaningful experiences, to help each resident stay engaged with their lives and surrounding community.
• Under Vi’s skilled nursing program, licensed staff provide hands-on care, from short-term rehabilitation and post-op recovery to long-term nursing. Each resident’s care plan is tailored to their individual needs, including physical, occupational and speech therapy.
