What is a Life Plan Community?
Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs), also known Life Plan Communities, are a senior living option that offer older adults a vibrant and independent lifestyle in an “all-in-one” approach at a single residential campus or location. They not only offer robust amenities and a host of organized activities, but also provide the added benefit of access to a comprehensive, on-site continuum of senior care.
This care typically includes assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care services—when or if residents need a higher level of support or care. From a financial perspective, CCRCs typically require residents to pay an initial up-front entrance fee (sometimes called a “buy-in”), plus a monthly maintenance fee or service fee.
Some CCRC contracts build the need for future care into monthly fees (and offer inclusive care services on-site), while other CCRC contracts provide future care at market rates when those services are needed, with preferred access to on-site care. Vi at Lakeside Village offers both types of contracts.
What kind of care does Vi at La Jolla Village offer?
The community provides a continuum of care which includes assisted living, memory support, and skilled nursing services. The assisted living, memory support, and skilled nursing services are provided in the care center. The care center is located on the community’s grounds.
Vi at La Jolla Village is a Type A, or inclusive, Life Plan Community.
A Type A contract provides the most comprehensive continuing care coverage. A Type A contract generally provides for transfer to any of the community’s care venues for an unlimited time at little or no additional cost beyond the monthly fee paid while residing in independent living (including any ongoing monthly fee increases applicable to such independent living unit) and the costs of ancillary supplies and additional meals.

Am I eligible to live at Vi at La Jolla Village?
Each prospective resident completes an application for residency. The completed application will be reviewed by our Resident Evaluation Committee. The Resident Evaluation Committee examines a prospective resident’s qualifications for residency. Those applicants who do not meet the criteria for residency will not be accepted for residency with continuing care coverage.
