Employee Spotlight: Susie Downey, Vi at Silverstone's Director of Sales

Susie Downey is no stranger to the senior living industry, with 25 years of experience under her belt she jokes that she happened into the field by divine intervention, "After a few years in HR, I realized that the salespeople worked hard, but they also seemed to have the most fun! I immediately applied for a department transfer and have been on the sales side since then," Susie shared.

In 2015 Susie joined as the Director of Sales at Silverstone. Although her team is small, they certainly get a lot done in a day, Susie can be found assisting her team, bringing new residents into the community, building connections, leading tours and much more. "I come in every morning with an idea of how the day will go, but I am often taken in many directions by the time I leave," Susie added.

If you're interested in pursuing a sales position one day, Susie offers this advice, "Be authentic, honest, and patient. No one likes to be “sold to” so take the time to know who you are working with and bring solutions instead, even if we aren’t the solution."

There are many aspects of her role that she enjoys, but nothing beats being stopped by a resident in the hall and having them share how happy they are to be living at Silverstone.

When Susie's fun and funky shoes aren't hitting the halls of the Silverstone community, she stays busy with her land, four dogs, several chickens and a goat of course!
