Community Employee Spotlight: Jermaine Hacker

Jermaine Hacker’s days tend to fly by with the list of tasks he balances. The Vi at Aventura’s Assistant Director of Engineering, can be found managing his team, addressing resident work orders, assessing life safety systems, checking building automation and equipment.

During his time with Vi, Jermaine has proven to be a motivated and dedicated individual. In 2020 he passed the Certified Hospitality Supervisor examination and recently passed the Certified Hospitality Facilities Executive exam (CHFE) from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute. Jermaine also completed business management technical and business operations technical certifications from Broward College.

His desire to learn continues to grow: he earned his associates degree in business management in August 2022 and is working towards gaining a bachelors in facility management or critical infrastructure.

Jermaine’s ambition is admirable when it came to making the choice to gain further education, he notes that, “It’s something I’ve wanted to do. I told myself that I have the potential and I will get it done.”

He saw the chance at making the jump when the pandemic began in 2020.

“I was motived during lockdown, I said to myself, This is a perfect opportunity to go back to school. I took advantage of it, and the tuition reimbursement program that Vi has was a great plus,” Jermaine said.

Over his 7 years with Vi, Jermaine admires the treatment of employees: “I think that Vi not only shows that they truly care but they go above and beyond. The company goes out of their way to make sure that the employees are comfortable."
